European Conference on Networks and Communications (EUCNC 2015)

EUCNC-2015-2y5gbt9xokojih8xvi3p56

The European Conference on Networks and Communications (EuCNC2015) is the key yearly event for showcasing EU funded research and innovation, as well as for presenting the latest developments in this area. EUCNC 2015 will be held in Paris, on 29 June - 2 July 2015.

The conference includes regular sessions with papers from the open call, workshops, special sessions, poster sessions, panels, keynote talks, and demos and exhibitions.

STRAUSS will be present in the regular sessions with two papers. One of this paper is a joint work between STRAUSS and IDEALIST, DISCUSS, COMBO, INSPACE and PACE projects. This paper addresses  the Control orchestration Protocol (COP) developed in STRAUSS and presents the use cases defined by these projects about how the COP could be used in their heterogeneous network scenarios:

In addition to these regular papers, the European Coordinator of STRAUSS, Raul muñoz, will moderate the pannel "Optical Networks: the key technology for enabling the deployment of global ICT across society". This panel will have the following participants: Sébastien Bigo (Alcatel-Lucent Bell Labs), Dimitra Simeonidou (University of Bristol), Juan Fernández-Palacios (Telefónica I+D), and  Klaus Grobe (ADVA Optical Networking).

Finally, STRAUSS has also prepared an exhibition proposal for a booth at EUCNC 2015 to perform a live demonstration of the SDN orchestration and virtualization mechanisms for multi-domain transport networks developed in the STRAUSS project.

STRAUSS plenary meeting in OSAKA (Japan)

The 5th STRAUSS plenary meeting was held in Osaka (Japan), on January 20 – 22, 2015 at Osaka University premises. It was a very successful event to strengthen the collaboration between European and Japanese partners. The participants had the opportunity to discuss and define two joint experimental activities, targeting two regular papers for the European Conference for Optical Communications (ECOC 2015) that will be held in Valencia (Spain).

Net-Tech Future Coordination Meeting

The well known FP7 'Future Networks Concertation Meeting' has a new 'look and feel' in Horizon 2020 and is being renamed 'Net-Tech Future Coordination Meeting'. These regular meetings will bring together EU research-funded projects in the area of communications networks to exchange the latest research findings and ideas for future activities.

The Net-Tech Future Coordination Meeting is based on plenary & working groups, which focus on:

  • Future Internet (FI)
  • Converged and Optical Networks (CaON)
  • Radio Access and Spectrum (RAS), and
  • The Internet of Things European Research Cluster (IERC).

The first Net-Tech Future Coordination Meeting in Horizon2020 was organised on 23 October 2014. Network techonologies and IoT projects met to share research results under the form of plenary and thematic cluster meetings. STRAUSS has participated in the Net-Tech Future Coordination Meeting held in Brussels on October 23 with the presentation "STRAUSS project: Inter-DC research between Europe and Japan" within the CAON thematic cluster meeting.
